Brief History

The Department of Mathematics of Netaji Mahavidyalaya started functioning from 1948 with Honours and General courses in the subject. At the beginning this institution was the only centre for studying Mathematics in this area. Naturally, the department has developed a lot and a large number of eminent academicians who had been graduated from this institution and are at present working not only throughout the state but also throughout India and abroad. Initially, the department was started with the teachers Prof. P. K. Pal, Dr. R. N. Hazra, Dr. N. K. Kundu & Prof. T. Nayek. At present, the department is equipped with two full-time teachers. The results of B.Sc. Mathematics Honours of Burdwan university show that our department is doing its job satisfactorily. In the year 2013, our student Annapurna Mal stood 1st class third in the University.
