Brief History

 

YEAR DETAILS
1948 Foundation of the College with Arts stream only.
1962 Establishment of the Department of Political Science, Burdwan University affiliation of 2year B.A. “Pass Course” (presently called “General Course” ) with Political Science as a subject.
1972 Upto 1972 there was only one teacher in this Department named Prof. Dulal Chanda Mal.
1972 Prof. Sakti Pada Manna joined this Department.
1973 Being sanctioned by the University of Burdwan, the full-fledged three year B.A. Honours course in Political Science started.
1974 Dr. Pranab Kumar Dalal joined the Department.
1980 Prof. Kartik Chanda Mondal joined this department also.
1996 Prof Dulal Chanda Mal retired.
2001 Prof.Sonali Majumdar joined this department replacing Prof. Dulal Chanda Mal.
2003 Prof. Mahua Saha joined this department.
2006 One Part-time teacher, Prof. Sujit Panja was appointed in this department because Prof. Sonali Majumdar was on a “Extra Ordinary Leave without Pay” from 01.02.2006 to 31.12.2006. He is still continuing.
2006 Availed separate departmental room.
2006 Establishment of a departmental library for the benefit of the students as well as teachers.
2007 A District Level Quiz was held on 08.07.2007 at Hooghly Women’s College under the supervision of Prof. Mahua Saha who took the candidate Santosh Das to the Competition.
2007 A District Level Youth Parliament and Quiz (Hooghly) was held on 04.12.2007 at Haripal Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya. Our departmental students participated in this competition under the supervision of Prof. Mahua Saha.
2007 Our Students Santosh Das and Debkumar Kundu participated in the District Level Competition was held on 06.12.2007. But Sontosh Das won the first position in the competition and participated in State Level Competition at Yuba Bharati Kriyangan Complex, Kolkata under the supervision of Prof. Mahua Saha.
2007 Prof. Kartik Chanda Mondal retired on 31stJuly of this year.
2008 Prof. Sakti Pada Manna also retired on 31stJanuary of this year.
2010 A District Level Youth Parliament and Quiz (Hooghly) was held on 30.01.2010 at Sree Gopal Banerjee College, Bagati, Mogra. Our departmental students participated in the Youth Parliament competition and also quiz under the supervision of Prof. Mahua Saha who took the candidates Sk.Saiful Islam and Debkumar Kundu to the competition.
2010 Prof. Santu Bhaluk (ex-student of this college) joined this department replacing Prof. Sakti Pada Manna.
2010 Prof. Pranab Kumar Dalal also retired.
2010 A Departmental wall magazine “Anwesha” was published by the students on September.
2011 A District Level Quiz competition was held on 06.01.2011 at Hooghly Women’s’ College under the supervision of Prof. Mahua Saha who took the candidate Sk. Saiful Islam and Santu Dey to the competition.
2011 Department conducted educational Tour at Bidhan Sabha Bhavan, , Kolkata West Bengal, on 21st January, 2011, along with thirty-four (34) students which made and opportunity for the students to enrich their knowledge in syllabus with practical experiences and academic development.
2011 The second issue of the departmental wall magazine “Anwesha” was published by the students on December of this year.
2012 A District Level Quiz Competition was held on 27.02.2012 & 20.02.2012 at Hooghly Mohsin’ College , Chinsurah, Hooghly under the supervision of Prof. Mahua Saha who took the Candidate Sk. Saiful Islam and Bandana Agarwal to the Competition. Bandana Agarwal won the second position in the competition.
2012 Bandana Agarwal won the second position in the position in the District Level competition which was held on 20.02.2012 at Hooghly Mohsin’ College , Chinsurah, Hooghly. Then she participated in the State Level Competition which was held on 14.03.2012 at Yuba Bharati Kriyangan Complex, Kolkata, under the supervision of Prof. Mahua Saha.
2012 The third issue of the departmental wall magazine “Anwesha” was published by the students on December of this year.
2013 Department conducted educational tour at Assembly House, Kolkata West Bengal, on 27th November, 2013 along with thirteen (13) students for their practical visualization.
2013 The fourth issue of the departmental wall magazine “Anwesha” published by the students on November, 2013.
2014 Prof. Santu Bhaluk joined as Associate NCC Officer.
2014 A departmental Magazine “LYCEUM” published by the students on Januray, 2014.
2014 The fifth issue of the departmental wall magazine “Anwesha” was published by the students on December of this year.
2015 Department conducted educational tour at Assembly House, Kolkata West Bengal, on 25th February, 2015 along with thirty-five (35) students for their practical visualization.
2015 The second issue of the departmental Magazine “LYCEUM” published by the students on February of this year.
